Coastal Functional Economic Regions
Functional economic regions - FERs
Functional economic regions are a set of statistical geographical boundaries based upon Local Government Areas – LGAs, to describe and define functional small economies operating across regional and remote NSW.
The NSW marine estate economic contribution and market insights report and dashboard provide income for each coastal FER as listed below. The associated LGAs for each FER are as listed.

Newcastle and Sydney are not currently defined as FERs in the Regional Economic Development Strategies but are included in the analysis of the NSW marine estate economic contribution and market insights report.
